Enjoying early comparisons to Prince, Gnarls Barkley, Funkadelic and OutKast; their recent limited 7"heralded as a 'debut masterpiece' by Yahoo's music website; already able to count Lauryn Hill and Groove Armada as fans and with a debut album now set for release on RCA Label Group in 2008, SugaRush Beat Company's future looks sweet. The trio are truly globe-spanning, hailing from three different continents but all united under one mission: to make music that rescues people from their shadowy gloom and revitalize a world that has had all of its fizz sucked out. Their honey hued soul-pop, which exudes an uncommon depth and weight , provides the magic formula, resulting in a sugar rush high for the listener on aural contact.
The trinity's three song debut commercial EP release showcases their wonderful Wonka-esque world providing a sample of the many treats in store on their debut album. Opening with their uplifting iTunes Single Of The Week (free for all to download all week), Oh Lord (Take Me Back), which struts, Harlem Shuffle-style, to sweltering ghetto gospel, this perfect introduction to the band is then followed by the raw alternative soul reflections of All Of A Suddenly. Proceedings are brought to a sublime string soaked and epic finale with the appropriately entitled The End, where Ida is joined by SugaRush fan and founding father of Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy and Spearhead, Michael Franti. All in all, it's enough to give the sourest of souls a sweet tooth.
The future? An official remix for Mark Ronson 'Valerie' more breathtaking live shows, a great debut animated video and a stunning album.
