Chicago rapper Rhymefest will release Fever on 10th July - the follow-up to debut single Brand New released in February this year.
Produced by No-I.D, Fever is a scorching single that features a high-pitched Spanish senorita singing the classic Peggy Lee line You Give Me Fever. With its catchy hip hop beat, strong ascending trumpet hook and loaded witty lyrics, Fever is set to be a hip hop anthem for the summer.
The self-confessed wacktose intolerant MC made his mark in the hip hop world for co-writing rap song of the year Jesus Walks with Kanye West; for which he won a Grammy. Grinding on the scene since the age of seventeen, he has also built a reputation as one of the mightiest mouths in Chi-Town with his sharp-tongue and infamous Eminem battles. Who won? Rhymefest, of course.
His long-awaited debut album Blue Collar is set for release this July and features collaborations with the likes of Mario, Carl Thomas and the late Old Dirty Bastard the latter on Build Me Up which is a hilarious ghetto take on The Foundations Build Me Up Buttercup and is sure to set a few hearts alight.
Blue Collar produced by both DJ/producer Mark Ronson and No-I.D is one of the albums to watch out for in 2006. Known for his sharp wit and gritty sense of humour, Rhymefests fresh approach sets him apart and brings a new vibe to the hip hop world.
The entire concept behind my project is to fight the wackness that rap has become, he says There are enough people trying to be gangsters without me going that route. What we need right now are rappers who are entertaining.
Rhymefest is certainly that. The single Fever is released on July 10th followed by the album Blue Collar on July 17th.
