Columbia Label Group Take No.1 Spot on Singles and Album Charts
19/05/2008
The Columbia Label Group is celebrating holding the No.1 positions in both the Single and Album Charts in the UK, with The Ting Tings at No.1 on Singles and Neil Diamond at No.1 on the Albums.

That's Not My Name is the first chart eligible single from the Ting Tings. Their new album, We Started Nothing, is also released today. The band are currently on a sold out tour of the UK and played a homecoming gig last night in Manchester to celebrate their No.1 success. They will play a sold out show at London's Astoria this week. Another track from the album, Shut Up And Let Me Go has also been selected for the new iTunes TV Commercial which starts in the UK this week.

After over 125 million career album sales, Neil Diamond achieves his first ever UK No.1 studio album with Home Before Dark, which was produced by Rick Rubin. Neil has been in the UK for extensive promotion which has included a special concert for Radio 2, a Jonathan Ross appearance for next week, and a forthcoming 'Audience With Neil Diamond' on ITV1. Already confirmed as the closing headliner as this year's Glastonbury Festival, Neil will kick off a UK tour on the 5th June at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

Columbia Managing Director Mike Smith says: "It has been incredible to tell one of the greatest living American singer songwriters on the Columbia Roster that he has his first UK No.1 album, and then to hear him in turn congratulate one of our newest signings on their chart topping single. This week is a culmination of everything we are trying to do at Columbia, reinventing legends and creating new ones."
