Multiple awarding winning, and multi-platinum selling Pink has always pushed the envelope as much in her music as in her attitude and style. As a global superstar she is a notorious maverick: bold, opinionated, outspoken, nonconformist, and unashamedly honest. As a music artist she is renowned for being as eclectic as she is generically all embracing: from rock and folk through hip hop and soul to out and out power pop, from Linda Perry through Scott Storch to Max Martin.

Pink's return in 2006 is no exception to this rule. I'm Not Dead is everything Pink's fourth studio album should be and more: a stylistic evolution; a stunning display of her craft as both singer and songwriter; and a candid scrapbook of her life experience, both past and present. This is Pink on top form, as brutally true and as soulfully vocal as only she can be. Brimming with her signature funk whilst simultaneously revealing her rock and roll side more than ever, I'm Not Dead proves that Pink can belt the blues as well as she rocks the dancefloor.

The album is also Pink's most confessional and thought-provoking work to date. Whether discussing heartbreak, depression, childhood, doomed romance, fake friends, American politics or the cult of celebrity, Pink speaks throughout with open-eyed candour, resolute strength of mind and socially savvy sass.

The first single from the record was Stupid Girls (released 20th march). Part parody, part social satire Stupid Girls is a commentary on the new breed of celebrity currently dominating and obsessing the western world's media. Accompanied by a seminal video, Stupid Girls rejects the airhead glitterati as suitable role models for the youth of today: "What happened to the dream of a girl president/ She's dancing in a video with 50 Cent... Where oh where have the smart people gone".

Other highlights on the album include: title track (a blazing slice of 80s style power pop exploring the theme of personal metamorphosis); Nobody Knows (a soulful rock ballad a la Elton John that reveals Pink at her most vulnerable and introspective); The One that Got Away (an acoustic elegy to the doomed relationship showcasing a previously unheard, bluesy side to Pink's voice); I Got Money Now (an R&B; flavoured confessional exploring the lonelier side of success); and, finally, hidden track I Have Seen the Rain (a duet between Pink and her father James T Moore dedicated to those who served in Vietnam).

There has always been more than one colour to Pink. Nowhere is this more evident than on I'm Not Dead, where Pink proves herself to be as unpredictable, inspirational, visionary and individual an artist as ever.
