With his sideways baseball cap and cheeky grin, Chris Hardman looks like a naughty little school boy. At only 15 years old, with a stint on Channel 4s successful Rock School and a newly signed deal with RCA Label Group, Chris certainly appears to have adult wits about him.
Chris, or Lil Chris as he has become known, was without a doubt the star of rock school; the show which gave a class of otherwise normal school kids the chance to form a successful rock band under the close watch of infamous Kiss bassist Gene Simmons.
Lil Chris was crowned as the heartbeat of the band by Simmons on day one. Despite a short break from Rock School for a family holiday, Chris went on to scoop the pride position of lead singer and later went on to perform to 20,000 people in Los Angeles. With the passion of a determined wannabe star and the blissful yet level-headed innocence of a young boy, Chris became everybodys favourite on the show.
Chris tiny size (he looks three years younger than his actual age of 15) is compensated by the fact that he is VERY loud. Imagine Bart Simpson four years on, armed with a guitar and ready to rock the world. Or perhaps Jackass Johnny Knoxville as a teenager, curious about each and everything. Picture these, and you get the gist of what to expect from Lil Chris.
A rebel without angst, bright and ambitious but with plenty of audacity and cheek, Lil Chris is the cool quirky kid who everyone is in awe of and wants to hang out with. And when people hear his music, theyre going to want to check him out a lot more!
His debut single Checkin It Out is an in-your-face, shout out loud, jump-up-and-down splurge of all things good. You could compare it to a modern day Ramones and its not dissimilar to early Nirvana. Its extremely rock but also a bit pop.
As Chris said at the end of Channel 4s Rock School, I never dreamt Id be playing in front of 20,000 people in Californianow the world!. You go get em Chris.
