Clare Teal releases her eagerly awaited second Sony BMG album Paradisi Carousel on 21st May. Produced by Chris Hughes (whose credits include Tears for Fears, Enya and Paul McCartney amongst many others) and Mark Frith, it is a rich album of succulent tunes highlighting Clare's velvet lined voice.Paradisi Carousel takes Clare in a new direction, whilst honouring her jazz background, she has evolved musically to reveal a wealth of hidden riches. The new album sits confidently alongside those of Norah Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae and Madeleine Peyroux. This sublime album successfully confirms Clare as not just a great vocalist, but as one of the UK's foremost singer songwriters. Across songs like Baby I'm Coming Home, Missing You and the title track, she sounds elegant, regal and full of warmth, with a vocal empathy that makes each arch of every last note an arch worth savouring. Her version of The Four Tops' Reach Out (I'll Be There) meanwhile, is divine, a slow motion re-reading of the Motown classic that she makes entirely her own."This album is my Bacharach period," Clare explains, "all big chords, nice tunes and harmonies, a bit of Carpenters here, some Dusty Springfield there."Clare Teal topped the British Jazz charts and cracked the UK Top 20 with her last album Don't Talk. She has won several prestigious awards, including British Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2005 and BBC Jazz Vocalist of the year 2006.Her loyal army of fans always knew she had the best voice in the country; now everyone will.
