OASIS AND THEIR LABEL BIG BROTHER STRIKE NEW AND INNOVATIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH SONY BMG
SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT UK today announced a groundbreaking new deal with OASIS and the band's own independent label Big Brother Recordings for the release of their next three albums and the distribution and marketing of their extensive catalogue.
The deal - a first of this magnitude - creates a unique structure whereby OASIS release both their new recordings and entire catalogue through Big Brother in all major markets worldwide under a profit share arrangement with SONY BMG. OASIS are among the most successful British bands of all time having sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide, of which 13 million in the UK alone, and have received 151 platinum awards. Their album Be Here Now remains the fastest selling album of all time in this country, having sold nearly 700,000 copies in three days on its release in 1997. Their 1996 Knebworth House gigs at the time broke the record for the largest audience of any outdoor concert held in the UK - with 250,000 fans attending over two nights. They have won five Brit Awards, 8 Q Awards, 13 NME Awards, and the most prestigious Ivor Novello Award, Songwriters Of The Year. In February 2008 Definitely Maybe was voted The Best British Album From The Last 50 Years by Q Magazine. (What's The Story) Morning Glory came second. OASIS have released all their records since 2000 in the UK on their own, independently run label Big Brother Recordings which has to date amassed sales of over 4,000,000 albums. Oasis' seventh studio album is due out later this year. Read More |
